Online package holiday price comparison planned
Package holiday price checks are to go live on Travelsupermarket.com in the new year.
The price comparison site claims a “significant number” of major suppliers have signed up to be part of the new service which is launched on February 1.
General manager Chris Nixon said: “Travel agents and tour operators offering package holidays can now make the most of Travelsupermarket.com with this new service and ensure their products are reaching the widest possible number of consumers.
“Also, anyone looking for a package holiday who doesn’t want to self-package can now simply compare the best deals on the market and make sure they get the cheapest package available.”
He added: “It is clear the industry also shares our vision, as we have already received commitments from many of the major package holiday companies to partner with us in this venture, set to go live in February, by which time we hope to have secured the products of a number of others.”
Travelsupermarket.com compares more than 120 travel websites to provide the best flight, car rental and hotel deals. It claims to give accurate real time availability by ‘spidering’ information directly from online travel firms such as of ebookers, opodo, lastminute, as well as low cost and charter airline websites and specialist car rental brokers and accommodation sites.
The company also offers the ability to simultaneously search the best price for a flight, hotel and car rental without having to undertake separate searches.
The site claims to attract more than two million unique users a month.
