Online room supplier in global deal with STA Travel

New online accommodation booking service Exclusively Hotels has signed youth travel firm STA Travel as a global customer.

The company, which features more than 30,000 properties in 150 countries, will feature in STA branches worldwide via a fully integrated system in the first quarter of the year.

The Exclusively Hotels system acts as an aggregator, searching accommodation suppliers and presenting the cheapest available rate to the agent. Commission rates can be set by the agent using flexible rate policies.

Agents can input their desired commission rate and the quoted fares will automatically include the mark-up. This allows agents to adjust commissions according to the market. The cheapest available rates are the only ones ever displayed on the system, and all rates include taxes and extra charges with no hidden fees.

Exclusively Hotels managing director Peter Clements said: “As airlines slash commission rates for agents, accommodation booking is becoming the bread and butter of an agent’s salary. By allowing agents to establish their own commission rates, they can guarantee bookings by lowering rates in a tough market, or increase them if their market is more service-driven.

“Making life simple for agents is the goal of Exclusively Hotels and the reason why the system was created. This system erases the double-speak of terms and conditions and ensures that agents are receiving the best in terms of selection, service and low prices.”

STA’s global land product managing director Vanessa Lenssen said: “The Exclusively Hotels system is easy-to-use, and doesn’t require the massive amounts of inputting that compromises our agents’ productivity. We chose the system because of the depth and breath of its product range, as well as the ease of use, guaranteed availability and simple pricing.”
