Ontario, Canada reaches out to agents
The Ontario Backroads and Getaways Program is offering something a little unusual: more than 75 commissionable packages designed by tour operators that are aimed directly at agents.
“We felt agents were not selling us, but we didn’t have anything to sell. So why not focus on agents?” facilitator Janice Ketchen told TravelMole.
She said the packages range from romantic getaways in cozy country inns and cottages to outdoor family adventures and women-only retreats. “There is something for everyone,” she said.
All packages pay a minimum of 10% commission, she said.
“All of the packages are sold by local licensed tour operators who can easily customize an individual or group program to fit specific needs or budgets,” said Ms Ketchen.
The packages range in price from as low as $120 to several thousand dollars for fly fishing trips to northern Ontario.
Ontario Backroads and Getaways is operated by the Ontario Receptive Alliance, a non-profit marketing association.
Agents are encouraged to order bulk copies of the 28-page retail brochure as well as a “Travel Agents Manual” that provides booking details available at www.hippoexpress.com.
