Onyx Hospitality signs two new Amari Hotels for Malaysia
Thailand based Onyx Hospitality has sealed agreements to bring two new Amari branded hotels to Malaysia.
It signed agreements with property developer SP Setia Berhad to launch Amari hotels in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
Amari Penang will open in late 2020, followed by Amari Kuala Lumpur in early 2021.
Amari Kuala Lumpur will be housed in the KL Eco City mixed-use development and feature 252 rooms.
Amari Penang will have 453 rooms and will be connected to Setia SPICE, the world’s first hybrid solar powered convention centre.
"In a market as dynamic as Malaysia, we are proud to establish a dual-property deal with world-renowned SP Setia to bring our flagship Amari experience to two premium locations," said Douglas Martell, CEO of Onyx Hospitality.
Onyx first launch in the south with Amari Johor Baru, and is opening OZO brand hotels in Johor and Penang.
"We look forward to a long and successful partnership with SP Setia for Amari Kuala Lumpur and Amari Penang, and to having three of our core Onyx brands present across some of the most popular business and leisure travel destinations in Peninsula Malaysia," Martell added.
Onyx has nearly 50 hotels open across the region and a robust development pipeline of nearly 30 more markets including Vietnam, Indonesia and Australia.
