Oodles.com appoints first Chief Executive
Fast growing car rental website Oodles.com has appointed Mark Hallo as its first Chief Executive Officer.
Hallo has extensive hands-on experience of the highly competitive online market having most recently been CEO of Melbourne-based online publishing and marketing company Letsshop Australia.
Prior to running Letsshop, Hallo held senior roles with leading media and advertising companies, including Melbourne-based DMG Radio, AIS/Starcom and Tribal DDB.
He also worked for Mind Share in Sydney and Ogilvy & Mather in London.
Oodles.com founder Steve Sherlock said Hallo’s appointment represented the next phase in the company’s development.
“Oodles.com has set a new benchmark for the online car rental market in terms of our technology and design, and the company has attracted solid financial support from investors,” Sherlock said.
“Mark is now charged with raising awareness of the Oodles.com brand and promoting the site’s unique advantages to both consumers and trade partners.”
With low-cost carriers driving down the cost of air travel, car rental is becoming a more significant component of travellers’ total holiday spend.
Oodles.com allows travellers to search, compare and book live rates from Australia’s five leading car rental brands – Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Thrifty – at more than 700 depots across Australia.
All prices are retrieved directly from the car rental companies’ own reservation systems, ensuring inventory is accurate. And unlike other online travel sties, Oodles.com charges travellers no service fees or booking charges.
Hallo said Oodles.com bookings were growing rapidly but there was still enormous potential for online car rental in Australia.
“The majority of Australian travellers do not book their car rental online, despite the benefits in terms of cost, time and convenience,” Hallo said.
“That presents a significant opportunity for a company such as Oodles.com to establish a dominant position.”
