Operator boosts capacity to wintersun hotspots

Prestige Holidays has expanded its winter programme to the Canaries and Madeira following a resurgence in demand for the Spanish and Portuguese islands.

Four new hotels have been added in Tenerife, one each in Lanzarote and Gran Canaria and three in Madeira.

Prestige said the additions were ‘in response to the positive renaissance in these destinations’.

With no definite news on when – or if – the Foreign Office will lift its advice against travel to Sharm el Sheikh and Tunisia this year, operators are expecting demand for alternative wintersun destinations such as the Canaries to grow even more.

Tenerife could become especially popular if rumours that scenes from season 7 of the TV hit Game of Thrones will be filmed in the Teide National Park turn out to be true.
