Operators offer discounts to help customers hit by Diamond collapse
Rival operators have stepped in to offer discounts to customers affected by the failure of River Cruise Line and Diamond Shortbreak Holidays.
The Market Harborough-based companies ceased trading yesterday affecting 16,000 people.
But the business has now been acquired by Arena Travel, who says it will do its best to offer the same holidays.
Cosmos is giving a £50 discount to anyone who has had their 2017/18 holiday cancelled as a result of the collapse.
The offer applies to any holiday featured by the travel group’s three brands – Cosmos Tours & Cruises, Avalon Waterways and Archers Holidays.
Customers booking an Avalon river cruise with a Panorama Suite will be eligible for a £100pp discount.
The offer is valid until Thursday April 20.
Cosmos Tours CEO Giles Hawke said: "Unfortunately, in the same quarter of this year, another travel company has gone into administration leaving thousands of customers without a holiday to look forward to."
"Once again, as availability of customers’ carefully chosen holiday could be an issue, we are here to help disappointed river cruise or touring holiday passengers re-book as soon as possible."
Saga is offering passengers discounts of £100pp on all long haul holidays and river cruises, £50pp on European holidays and £20pp on all UK breaks.
Offers are applicable on all available departures up to October 31 on all European and Mediterranean holidays and all advertised dates on worldwide, rivers and UK products .
Offers are valid on bookings made by April 2.
A Saga spokeman said: "Our specialist UK sales team will do their utmost to find a suitable replacement for the holiday the traveller has lost.
"We know this can be a very worrying time for many however passengers have been reassured they will get their money back thanks to the protection afforded by ATOL and ABTA and we want to be able to help passengers rebook their holiday as soon as possible."
