Operators predict quick recovery to Turkey
Operators have reported a downturn in sales to Turkey following the weekend bombing at a tourist resort.
But all said they expected the destination to quickly bounce back.
None of the major operators have changed their cancellation policy although First Choice is allowing customers travelling to Kusadasi before July 25 to choose an alternative destination.
Two Thomas Cook holidaymakers died in the blast which injured several other people.
A Thomas Cook spokeswoman said only six out of 1600 of their customers in resort wanted to come home.
“The Foreign Office has not changed its advice and there is no reason to believe there will be other attacks,” she said. “We’ve had calls, though not as many as we might have expected, but are reassuring people there is no reason not to go.”
Thomson said there has been a slight dip in demand to Turkey but didn’t expect widespread cancellations.
“People have had holidays booked for a long time and there is not a lot else available at this late stage,” said a spokesman.
Cosmos said it sold a good number of late packages yesterday, an indication the market was unlikely to collapse.
