Oprah Update: IHG named accommodation partner
Three hundred Oprah Winfrey fans have started to arrive in Sydney ahead of the talk show queen’s much-hyped appearance in Australia.
Winfrey appears in Sydney on December 14 to record two shows at the ”Oprah House”, where access to the surrounding area will be blocked, as bus schedules are altered, special event clearways introduced and a maritime exclusion zone imposed.
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has been named the official accommodation partner for Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure, backed by Tourism Australia and Qantas.
The IHG partnership covers accommodation for audience and crew at InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn hotels throughout Australia.
P&O Cruises will be among the first to welcome Oprah to Australia, with the company this week rolling out five massive billboards on Qantas Drive near Sydney Airport’s International Terminal.
The first billboard, unveiled today, sports an image alluding to Tom Cruise’s memorable couch-jumping appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and declares “Hey Oprah – go for a more relaxed Cruiseâ€.
