Orbitz unveils a “first”
A new “Board Room Rates” program assures business travelers of getting the hotel services they want, but has other accomplishments as well:
• It’s the first combination of online technology and relevance to create a new service that ensures travel comfort and productivity while on the road.
• It also is another example of the larger trend of online corporate travel management companies implementing “service-oriented” features to replicate the service orientation of traditional providers, says Orbitz for Business.
Orbitz’s new “Board Room Rates” provides user with the online identification of hotels that offer resources typically preferred by business travelers at discounted rates. The program allows users to recognize the properties that offer their key amenities when booking a trip online.
Four typical amenities sought by business travelers are in-room internet access, on-site restaurants, fitness centers and business services.
“Through the display of online search results, hotels with qualifying amenities and pricing are tagged to quickly inform users of the services and savings available,” Ortitz says.
More than 3,000 properties are now participating in the “Board Room Rates” program, according to Orbitz.
Orbitz says the new service is similar to traditional travel providers but accomplishes its goals in a faster and less costly way.
