Osborne goes as Tourism Auckland restructures
Graeme Osborne has quit as CEO of Tourism Auckland following his failure to nail the role of Manager-Tourism in the city’s restructured tourism, events and economic development department.
“After ten fantastic years at the head of Tourism Auckland, I am departing Tourism Auckland to pursue new opportunities in the tourism sector,” he said in a statement issued today.
He expects to depart Tourism Auckland on October 31, “at which time the business of Tourism Auckland will be migrated into the council-controlled organisation ATEED Ltd: Auckland Tourism, Events, Economic Development Ltd.”
A new manager for the tourism business unit within ATEED Ltd is expected to be announced shortly.
Osborne added, “I am a staunch advocate for the restructuring of local government in Auckland, and believe that there has never been a better opportunity for tourism in Auckland to be accorded the priority it warrants. These are exciting times.”
