Oscar Munoz returning as United CEO early next year

United Continental CEO Oscar Munoz will return in the first quarter of 2016 after suffering a heart attack less than a month ago.
Munoz was hospitalized on October 15 after taking over from the ousted Jeff Smisek the previous month.
"I am on the road to recovery. My time away will be a little longer than I would like, but based upon discussion with my doctors I will be back in the first quarter," Munoz said.
"As I’m sure you can appreciate, this has been a hard time for me and my family."
The airline is currently being led by general counsel Brett Hart who stepped in as acting CEO.
During his short tenure, Munoz said he would focus on repairing frayed relationships with United’s workforce.
Days after Hart stepped in, the company agreed a tentative labor deal with mechanics and last week said it would no longer outsource jobs in baggage handling or customer service for at least the next two years.
