Oslo Guldsmeden: Little Organic Gem in Norway
Oslo Guldsmeden is a nouveau-boheme sustainable boutique hotel in Norway. Visitors come here for the cosy, relaxed and warm atmosphere combined with a sense of fun and amazing organic food.
Green Globe congratulates Oslo Guldsmeden on its recent recertification. The hotel is the first and only property that is Green Globe certified in Norway.
All restaurants and bars at Guldsmeden Hotels have achieved the official Danish Gold Ø-label. The hotel purchases only organic food and drinks, and will choose another product if unavailable in organic form. Menus in restaurants are planned according to seasonal produce available from organic suppliers. All providers of organic products in Norway are certified by Debio. Oslo Guldsmeden has achieved Debio’s organic gold certification again this year which now includes breakfast, alcohol and evening food service.
As a Green Globe certified member, environmental initiatives are constantly being implemented and sustainable goals communicated to both staff and visitors alike. The hotel’s recycling program has been reviewed and simplified and a new refuse collection company provides staff training along with easy to use containers to sort waste. Guests are also encouraged to act responsibly and receive a Guldsmeden Hotels Newspaper featuring a new Golden Tips section that provides tips for a sustainable stay. Tips include instructions for separating carbon and glass waste items in rooms and suggestions on saving water such as switching taps off when brushing teeth and limiting shower times.
The conservation of energy resources continues with all spotlight and overhead lamps replaced with LED lights over the last twelve months. Dimmer switches have also been installed in the reception area, restaurants and the kitchen. By the end of the year it is planned that all lamps at front of the hotel will be changed over to LED lamps.
