OYO claims to be world’s third largest chain
OYO Hotels & Homes says it has now clawed its way into the global top three hotel chains for the number of branded hotel rooms worldwide.
It claims to be the third-largest in terms of room count as of June 2019.
It now has 850,000 rooms in nearly 23,000 OYO-branded hotels spanning more than 800 cities.
It is some achievement after just six years since being established but OYO founder Ritesh Agarwal says ‘we are just getting started.’
Its rapid rise has been fuelled by the company’s success in China and recently announced an official launch in the all-important US market.
Elsewhere it has grown to 20,000 rooms and 720 hotels in Indonesia, and claims to have created over 300,000 direct and indirect jobs across India, China, the US, and the UK.
The company said it will continue prioritising growth in China and 40% of investment is being funnelled into the China market.
