Oyo enters the local experiences fray with ‘OYO Near You’ service
Rapidly expanding Indian budget hotel chain Oyo now hopes to corner the events and experiences market.
The new initiative is called ‘OYO Near You’ and debuts in the Delhi national capital region.
Curated events and experiences will be offered for hotel guests as well as locals from wine tastings, movie screenings, live shows, workshops and food offerings hosted at various Oyo hotels.
In the coming months it will roll out in other Indian cities including Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Pune.
It will allow guests ‘to break away from the monotony of routines and clichés,’ Oyo said.
"Today one doesn’t want to just see monuments but get a flavour of the local culture by getting down to actually experience local cuisine, music, etc," said Ankit Tandon, chief operating officer, operated business, OYO Hotels & Homes.
Oyo is also positioning its OYO Townhouse brand properties as entertainment hubs for locals to enjoy.
"We take immense pride in introducing new categories to suit our customers in and around their own neighbourhoods," Ankit added.
