Pampered pooches check in at The Wag

SAN FRANCISCO – It doesn’t yet have an entry in the Ruff Guide but the Wag Hotel, a newly-opened pets-only property in the city named after a patron saint of animals, is likely to score five wagging tails.

Wag Hotel comes complete with massage spa, swimming pool, flat-screen televisions (probably showing old Lassie movies) couches and web cams so owners can log in on their pampered pooches.

Rooms have epoxy-coated floors, and a filtration system that recycles the air in all rooms of the hotel 10 times a day.

Cats get two-story condos with scratching posts, a tropical aquarium and food prepared in a commercial kitchen. A boutique sells US$80 ceramic water bowls, gourmet treats, designer shampoo, and even non-alcoholic doggie beer.
