Paris attack leaves one tourist dead
France is on a heightened alert following a terror attack.
A German tourist was killed and two others were injured near the Eiffel Tower.
The injured are a British national and a French citizen.
The suspect is under arrest for the knife and hammer attack.
France’s Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said the man arrested is a French citizen and known to French intelligence.
The suspect was known to have ‘serious psychiatric disorders,’ Darmanin told reporters.
French President Emmanuel Macron described it as a terror attack and the anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office would investigate. The incident
“I send all my condolences to the family and loved ones of the German national who died,” Macron posted on X.
“The national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office now will be responsible for shedding light on this matter so that justice can be done,” Macron said.
