Park guests taken to hospital after rollercoaster malfunction
A malfunctioning theme park ride sent seven people to hospital.
An electrical fault on the Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast coaster ride sparked a fire at Six Flags Over Texas.
One park staffer and six guests were sent to local hospitals, mostly suffering smoke inhalation.
The ride broke down within an enclosed space but everyone was able to exit the area independently.
Arlington fire officials said they arrived just after the fire had been extinguished by Six Flags staff.
Fire crews then ventilated smoke out of the enclosed tunnel area.
A staff member was treated for a ‘minor’ injury while the others had the effects of smoke inhalation, a Six Flags spokesperson said.
A malfunction in a motor caused the electrical fire, which led to a quick buildup of smoke, according to an initial investigation.
Mr. Freeze: is a reverse coaster that travels at up to 70 mph.
