Park MGM is latest Vegas hotel to close midweek
Park MGM is the next Las Vegas Strip hotel to close midweek due to low demand
It is reducing hours with a temporary midweek shutdown due to low occupancy rates and a lack of meetings and convention business.
Starting next week, it will close on Mondays at noon and reopen again on Thursdays at noon.
"With occupancy remaining low during weekdays, we have decided to temporarily adjust hotel operations to account for the current state of business," Anton Nikodemus, President and COO of MGM Resort’s Las Vegas Portfolio, wrote in an internal memo.
The resort’s casino, pool, restaurants and other facilities will stay open throughout the week.
"The NoMad hotel at Park MGM will also continue operating seven days a week. While we do not currently expect the midweek closures to remain in effect past December, we will continue evaluating business levels."
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, average occupancy rates in the last quarter at MGM properties were 44%, down more than half year-over-year.
"Know that all of us on MGM’s leadership team are laser-focused on doing all that we can to bring business back. Progress is being made, and we are optimistic that we are headed in the right direction," Nikodemus added.
Park MGM and NoMad Las Vegas only reopened in late September, and in doing so, became the first smoke-free casino resort on the Las Vegas Strip.
