Passenger, your train has been delayed… by several months
Eurostar has confirmed there will be a slight delay in the delivery of new high-speed trains that will be used to expand its network from London to an additional 10 destinations in four European countries over the next five years.
German engineering group Siemens is due to supply the cross-Channel rail operator with 10-high-speed trains, the first of which were due for delivery at the end of 2014.
But Eurostar has confirmed to the Financial Times that the delivery date had "slipped a few months".
"We are still expecting delivery of most of the trainsets during 2015," it told the paper.
Siemens admitted it had underestimated the complexity of the contract
