Passengers evacuated from gate at Manchester Airport
Passengers have been evacuated from a gate at Manchester Airport after cracks appeared in the floor and the ceiling.
Twitter users posted images of the crack next to a metal beam in the ceiling, which appeared as passengers were boarding a flight to Palma at gate 212 in Terminal Two.
The airport said another crack has since appeared in the floor.
The fire service were called to the scene and passengers, some of whom claimed to have heard a loud bang, were evacuated from the gate to the airfield as a safety precaution.
Gate 212 is inside a temporary building while work is taking place at the airport.
Passengers tweeted saying they’d been afraid the building would collapse.
