Pegasus reveals new B2C site
Pegasus announced plans to launch a new consumer website focusing on independent hotels, Hotel Book. John Davis, Pegasus Chairman & CEO said in an interview with BTN, βThe site will compete with the websites of the major hotel chains, such as Marriott.com, and Hyatt.com. Those sites are grabbing 80% of the Internet bookings in the US. The independent hotels donβt have that opportunity so we are going to create it for themβ.
Davis added, βExpedia.com is primarily pushing the chains and the relationships they have with them. The independents might be on page 52 β you canβt ever find them! Hotel Book will give the independent hotels a chance to market themselves to the consumer directlyβ.
Pegasus Solutions, Inc., a Nasdaq listed company based in Dallas, is a global leader in providing technology and services to hotels and travel distributors. Founded in 1989, Pegasusβ customers include a majority of the worldβs travel agencies and nearly 60,000 hotel properties around the globe. Pegasusβ services include central reservation systems, electronic distribution services, commission processing and payment services, property management systems, and marketing representation services. The companyβs representation services, including Utell by Pegasusβ’ and Unirez by Pegasusβ’, are used by nearly 8,000 member hotels in 140 countries.
