Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca in Girona has nudged out Denmark’s Noma for the title of the world’s best restaurant.

The US and France tied as the most successful countries in the awards, which are sponsored by S. Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, with six restaurants each making it into the top 50 list this year.

Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy, jumped two spots to the number-three position, and Spain’s Mugaritz took fourth.

New York City’s Eleven Madison Park was the highest-ranked US restaurant. Also on the list were, in order, New York’s Per Se, Alinea in Chicago, Le Bernardin and Daniel in New York, and The French Laundry in Yountville, CA.

The awards are voted by 900 international restaurant-industry insiders.
