Peppers announces new Victorian property
Peppers Retreats, Resorts & Hotels has announced the acquisition of its third Victorian property – Peppers The Sands Resort, Torquay – which will be opening July 2007, with the spectacular 96-room beachside resort forming part of The Handbury Group’s The Sands Torquay golf and residential development on the Bellarine Peninsula’s Surf Coast.
Gunter Steib, Group General Manager, Peppers said, “This resort is a natural fit within the Peppers Group and the perfect compliment to our other Victorian golf resort, which is also owned by The Handbury Group, Peppers Moonah Links Resort, Mornington Peninsula”.
In announcing the signing of the sales and marketing contract, The Handbury Group’s Chairman Patrick (Paddy) Handbury commented, “Our existing relationship with Peppers combined with their well earned reputation for excellence in the hospitality industry were key deciding factors.”
He added, “I have always been convinced about Torquay’s potential as a prime holiday and lifestyle destination and Peppers The Sands Resort is a major part of our vision”, adding, Peppers The Sands Resort will deliver a new standard of accommodation for leisure travellers visiting this rapidly growing tourism region in Victoria.
The sleekly designed hotel comprising two interconnecting three level buildings accessible by a walkway to the Clubhouse along with all its dining and recreational facilities.
A strong emphasis has been placed on spacious room layouts with private balconies, tasteful furnishings, separate lounge and dining spaces and flat-screen TV’s providing unique points of difference in each of the hotels guest rooms.
Peppers The Sands Resort features an 18-hole Stuart Appleby-designed Golf Course, Clubhouse with heated indoor lap pool, gymnasium and Day Spa, Restaurant & Bar, plus a comprehensive conference and event centre.
Peppers The Sands Resort will fill a genuine gap in accommodation offerings on this burgeoning peninsula, balancing the rapidly expanding conference market, growing leisure market and increasing demand from locals for a premium venue for business functions, dinners and weddings.
Tourism Victoria has recognised the Bellarine region, with over 2,500,000 visitors each year, as one of the most important and largest growing tourist regions in Victoria.
