A hot spot for tour groups is Philadelphia, where the local CVB reported a 30% increase in the number of tour room nights last year.

Philadelphia was also named as a top 2006 motorcoach destination by two group travel associations, the American Bus Association and the National Tour Association.

The city was named among the top three by 1,000 motorcoach owners and tour companies; the other two were Nashville and Chicago.

The local CVB recently added more than a dozen new experiental tours that include a stop at the movies tour and an Underground Railroad tour.

“These hands-on, behind-the-scenes tours for groups add an extra dimension to the group travelers’ experiences,” said the CVB.
