Philippines’ largest ever hotel checking in to Boracay
The Philippines’ largest ever hotel will rise on the small island hotspot of Boracay.
Developer DoubleDragon Properties Corporation announced it has broken ground on a 1,001 room resort on a two-hectare beachfront site.
It will be flagged in the Hotel 101 brand.
It is a partnership with Newcoast South Beach Inc and the site forms part of Boracay Newcoast, a 150-hectare resort development.
DoubleDragon said it has a goal of a total of 5,000 hotel rooms in its portfolio by 2020.
"Our group is proud to be working with DoubleDragon to launch the biggest green hotel in the Philippines," said Newcoast South Beach chairman Enrique Gonzalez.
"Boracay enjoys global popularity and the upgrading of Caticlan airport provides favourable macros. We are one of the best beachfront properties within the best master-planned development on the island, located on one of the best beaches in the world."
The hotel will be a front-runner in the Philippines for eco design with LEED certification and solar panel and rainwater harvesting systems.
"This new eco-friendly ‘greenergized’ hotel project in Boracay puts forward our grand vision to be a major player in the hotel and resorts industry in the country," said DoubleDragon chairman Edgar Sia.
The hotel will feature a pool and outdoor deck, business centre, meeting rooms, and multiple F&B and retail outlets.
