Phones4U boss confirmed for ABTA Convention
John Caudwell, boss of 10 businesses including retailer Phones4U, has been signed up to speak at this year’s ABTA Travel Convention.
The association has also confirmed that Cendant Travel Distribution’s Gordon Wilson, chief executive and president of international markets, will appear at the event in Marrakech in November.
Caudwell heads the Caudwell Group, which includes phone retailer Phones4U, handset distribution business 20:20 and Dextra Solutions, a manufacturer and distributor of accessories.
ABTA president Martin Wellings said: “The sector may not be travel, but as a retailer, provider and distributor of products there are many parallels between the challenges John Caudwell faces in the mobile phone industry and our own. He is sure to be a fascinating speaker.”
Meanwhile, Wilson will be interviewed by moderator Nick Ross on the second day of the convention. Wilson is responsible for Cendant’s travel distribution businesses in more than 100 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australasia and will be asked about his opinions on hot industry issues including how dynamic packaging will evolve and how companies can diversify and develop new revenue streams.
Wellings said: “Cendant, in global travel industry terms, is a hard-hitter. This is a must-attend session for anyone who wants to know how the actions of a world-wide company will affect your business.”
