P&O Cruises expands short breaks programme
P&O Cruises has increased the number of departures featured in a new City & Shorts Breaks brochure.
It the second year the cruise line has issued a dedicated programme offering cruise breaks, aimed at encouraging younger people to sample cruises.
The 2005 brochure contains 60% more departures than 2004 covering 18 destinations and a choice of durations.
Available from March 1, the brochure targets customers with a destination – rather than a cruise holiday – in mind, according to the company.
Itineraries have been improved to provide Friday to Monday/ Friday to Friday departure dates.
The brochure covers 21 cruises, ranging in duration from two to seven nights. Prices start at £229 for a two-night cruise visiting Bruges. Seven-night cruises start at £669, based on Oriana’s visits to Vigo, Lisbon, La Rochelle and Brest. Other destinations on offer include Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Oslo.
Cruises are available on all five P&O Cruises vessels including Arcadia and Artemis, due to join the fleet in April and June respectively.
P&O Cruises commercial director Nigel Esdale said: “No other cruise company places such emphasis on the suitability of a cruise as a short break.
“Packaging cruising in this way highlights an easy access point into cruising for those who haven’t tried it before, enabling agents to attract a new set of customers. These customers are more likely to be interested in destinations, not ships, and we have designed the brochure with this in mind.”
