P&O to cancel Schoolies Cruises
Three years into the highly successful schoolies program, P&O said it would cancel its three schoolie cruises planned for late 2007.
The company also said it would no longer offer “age-specific holidays”, of which the schoolies cruises are the only examples.
The company said it would go ahead with its 2006 cruises, due to start in just under two months and. These were already sold out.
“Over the last few months we have focused on better managing a small minority of passengers whose behaviour is unacceptable … School-leavers’ cruises have a propensity for this kind of unacceptable behaviour and we have decided that after this year’s cruises we will be withdrawing from that market,” P&O’s statement read.
A spokeswoman for the company also said about 2000 teenagers who had booked on the 2007 cruises would have their deposits refunded.
