Police stormed a Manchester Airport passenger terminal on Sunday after a gun was discovered in passenger baggage.
Cops seized the gun at terminal 2 and a man was arrested for suspected possession of a firearm.
“Officers were called to reports of a possible firearm being found in hold luggage by airport staff at Manchester Airport,” Greater Manchester Police said.
“The firearm was seized. Subsequently, a man has been arrested for possession of a firearm and remains in custody.”
No further details have yet been shared by GMP or the airport.
The man’s identity has been released or for which flight the bag had been checked in for.
It didn’t impact any flight operations.
In the US, where gun ownership is the norm, over 6,000 firearms are seized at airport passenger screening every year.
