Police swoop on illegal gamblers
HO CHI MINH CITY – Police have launched an investigation after locals were caught gambling at casinos in Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau reserved exclusively for foreigners.
Local media reported that police detained 217 people and hotel staff in the raids on hotels that included the Duxton Hotel and the Equatorial Hotel.
Locals were caught playing slot machines meant for foreigners and overseas Vietnamese.
Police released all but 10 people, including six foreigners, who were suspected of organising illegal gambling.
