Small ship line Ponant will return to Cuba for a second season in early 2019.

The intimate 64-guest masted yacht Le Ponant will sail a ‘Cuba: History, Culture & Contemporary Life’ itinerary from  January 25 to February 3, 2019 calling at historic Santiago de Cuba, Trinidad, Isla de la Juventud and Cienfuegos.

The fare, which has an early bird discount of 30%, also includes a two night stay in Havana.

Onboard programs include talks by Franklin W. Knight, professor of history at the Johns Hopkins University who has been organizing educational travel to Cuba for decades.

Two Cuban guides will also join guests onboard along with themed dance and musical performances.

Land tour programs include visits to artists’ studios and to owners of casas particulare local homestays.

There is also a trip  offered to the notorious Bay of Pigs.

Ponant this year marked three decades of sailing and 2018 sees the launch of two of its four new Explorer ships.

Le Lapérouse and Le Champlain enter service this year followed by Le Bougainville and Le Dumont d’Urville in 2019.

In March the line announced another two vessels due for delivery in 2020.
