Ponant teams up with OzHarvest to support NT food sustainability
Small ship cruising operator Ponant Explorations has teamed up with OzHarvest to support actions against food waste.
OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organization.
The cruise line will also support education programs on food and sustainability.
The Asia Pacific division of Ponant Explorations announced the start of a new three-year partnership with OzHarvest.
“We look forward to contributing to OzHarvest’s success in creating a sustainable future for many,” said Deb Corbett, CEO of Ponant Explorations Group for Asia Pacific.
“This alignment is an opportunity for our two organisations to make a great impact.”
OzHarvest Founder Ronni Kahn AO added: “Thanks to their support, our team in the Northern Territory can continue getting good food to those who need it most.”
Operating out of Darwin, OzHarvest rescues and deliver 350kg of essential food hampers each week.
It also runs a pop-up store in the Jabiru community.
Ponant Explorations is also supporting the FEAST education program for primary and high school students.
Over 10 weeks, students explore the issue of food waste and its environmental impact, learn about healthy eating, and get hands-on in the kitchen.
“With Ponant Explorations’ contribution, we’ll be able to bring this program to over 70 schools and reach more than 4,400 students,” Ronni Kahn added.
