Pontins slammed for re-selling cancelled packages at FIFTEEN times original price

Pontins has come under fire for cancelling cheap bookings for the Queen’s Jubilee and re-selling the same accommodation at 15 times the price.

Families who had booked seven-night deals to Brean Sands in Somerset for just £33 were told they would have to pay £550 if they wanted to re-book.

Pontins told the BBC that a computer error was to blame for the fact that up it had sold a few holidays at the incorrect price of £33.

However, one customer – Scott Foster – told the Mirror newspaper that he had double-checked the price when he booked the Jubilee packages in January and Pontins had confirmed it was correct.

He said he received an email only last Friday to say that the holiday had been cancelled due to overbooking.

When he called Pontins he said he was told six-night packages were still available, which he was offered at 15 times the original price of the seven-night holiday.

A Pontins spokeswoman told the Mirror: "We apologise that our computer booking system did not work in this case and the cancellation was issued as soon as we realised the problem.

"It only affects around 17 bookings."

She said Pontin’s would give those affected 50% discount on any visit at any other time of year.
