Porter Airlines inks jet deal with Embraer
Tuboprop airline Porter Airlines plans to move into jet service to compete with its much larger rivals. The Toronto based carrier plans to order up to 80 Embraer E195-E2 jets.
The airline has ordered 30 Embraer jets, with options for a further 50. The deal is valued at $5.8 billion if all 80 are ordered.
Porter flight operations have been suspended since March 2020 and expects to resume flights in September. Based at Billy Bishop Airport, it will fly the Embraer jets from the larger Toronto Pearson Airport.
