Portugal issues first Digital Nomad Visas
Portugal has granted its first Digital Nomad Visas.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced 200 have been granted a visa to live and work.
The visa scheme was launched in October 2022.
It includes remote workers from the US, UK and Brazil.
Other European countries have joined Portugal in regulating the stay of remote workers.
These include Malta, Spain Croatia, Estonia and Norway.
Patricia Casaburi MD of Global Citizen Solutions, said, “The residency period ranges between six months to two years and can be subject to extension.”
“Often, you are not required to be a registered tax resident.”
