Priceline names new CEO

Priceline Group has named long serving executive Glenn Fogel as new permanent CEO.

Fogel was head of strategy and corporate development and replaces Darren Huston who was ousted last spring.

Since Huston left, the chief executive post had been handled by Jeff Boyd,

Boyd will become executive chairman of the board when Fogel assumes the post on January 1.

Fogel joined Priceline in 2000 and previously worked in the finance industry for Morgan Stanley and Kidder Peabody.

"Glenn knows our global business inside and out, and he has been a key player in almost all of the major strategic initiatives for The Priceline Group over the last 16 years," Boyd said.

"I can attest to Glenn’s intimate knowledge of our people, our business models, our company culture and our changing business landscape, all critical attributes for the next leader of Priceline."
