Prince of Wales celebrates 20 years of promoting responsible tourism
The contribution that the UK travel and tourism industry has made towards protecting the world’s fragile habitats and endangered species has been acknowledged by HRH The Prince of Wales.
At a summer reception to celebrate Friends of Conservation’s (FOC’s) 20th anniversary, the Prince of Wales, FOC’s Patron, met with guests from the tourism industry at St James’ Palace. In an address, he commended the work undertaken by FOC and the vital role that many UK tour operators have played in supporting these efforts. In doing so he also made reference to the many environmental challenges that lie ahead.
At the reception, FOC said it is looking to raise funds for new projects in the Seychelles, The Gambia and the Far East. The organisation is currently working with Caribtours, the specialist Caribbean tour operator, to create the first-ever, ongoing fund-raising effort specifically for the conservation of endangered West Indian flora and fauna.
