Prince William urged to take the Greyhound bus
Greyhound Australia is hoping Prince William will hop onboard one of its buses during his upcoming tour of Queensland.
Chief executive Robert Thomas has written to Buckingham Palace suggesting the Prince and his entourage take a short bus trip with some local tourism operators who have been hit hard by floods and Cyclone Yasi.
“We have asked the Prince’s private secretary to consider a tour leg on the “dog” (Greyhound) to shine the international spotlight on rank and file industry operators who have been doing it so tough,” Thomas said.
“A short trip on a Greyhound coach by Prince William would also send a right royal message to the world’s youth market which is vital to regenerate the industry in Queensland and the rest of Australia.â€
Brisbane’s Normanby Hotel has also been trying to get the Prince’s patronage, offering the use of its upmarket steakhouse for a buck’s party before his wedding to Kate Middleton on April 29.
The palace is yet to respond to Greyhound’s offer.
