Princess Cruises’ new ship will homeport in China
Princess Cruises will deploy its next new vessel in China full time, the company has said.
This will be the first time a Carnival Corp. brand has committed a ship still under construction to the China market .
The as yet unnamed ship will homeport year round in Shanghai from summer 2017 when it leaves the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.
The ship will feature some amenities tailored specifically to the Chinese market.
"Deploying our next new ship in China underscores our strong commitment to growing the China cruise market," said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises.
"As this ship is still in the design phase we are looking forward to creating other new and exciting venues and experiences catering to the Chinese vacationer, which we will reveal in the coming months," Swartz added.
Sapphire Princess, the line’s first ship to enter the China market, returns to Asia next month for its second four month long season.
