Qantas, Jetstar resume Brisbane flights
Qantas has restarted flights out of Brisbane on Sunday following Tropical Cyclone Alfred but at a reduced level.
Qantas and Jetstar services resumed but say it has been unable to reposition some aircraft due to continued strong winds over the weekend.
“We are closely monitoring and are contacting customers directly to update them on their flight status.”
“We have resumed operations to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Ballina. We continue to closely monitor the weather conditions and schedules are progressively building throughout the day.
Due to flooding at Hervey Bay Airport, flights there are suspended for at least another day.
An assessment at the airport will be made later today.
“Teams across the business are working to get customers in and out of Southeast Queensland and Northern NSW as safely and as quickly as possible,” Qantas said.
Qantas is ‘operating a supplementary A330 between Sydney and Brisbane’ to get as many people to their destination as quickly as possible.
Customers are being offered additional flexibility including travel credits and fee-free date changes.
They are being asked to regularly check the Qantas app, Qantas.com and Jetstar.com.
