Qantas resuming flights to Sunshine and Gold Coasts
After a gap of more than 10 years, Qantas is restarting flights to Queensland’s Sunshine and Gold Coasts.
The carrier will resume daily service between Melbourne and the Gold Coast starting on October 25 and then start flying between Sydney and Maroochydore six times a week in December.
Qantas discontinued the routes back in 2004 when subsidiary Jetstar took them over.
Demand for full service flights from premium flyers has prompted a return, Qantas said.
"Offering both airlines on these routes means we can appeal to leisure travellers with Jetstar while Qantas caters for more premium leisure and business customers," Qantas Domestic chief executive officer Andrew David said.
