Qantas says sorry with frequent flyer perks

Qantas has once again apologised to customers, and is now dishing out millions in discounts and perks as a way to say sorry.

CEO Alan Joyce issued a video message apologising for months of delayed flights, cancellations and lost baggage.

Frequent flyers will get a $50 voucher to be used for flight bookings, and additional lounge invitations.

“Over the past few months, too many of you have had flights delayed, flights cancelled and bags misplaced,” Joyce said.

“There are good reasons why, but when it comes to what you expect from Qantas, it’s not good enough.”

“I want to apologise and assure you that we’re working hard to get back to our best.

“The $50 towards a return Qantas flight equates to many millions in discounts.”

Qantas will additionally offer status extensions for frequent flyers at silver and above, thousands of Qantas points and more lounge passes.

Once the gold standard, Qantas’ brand reputation has tanked in recent months, even leading to Alan Joyce’s house being pelted by eggs.
