Qantas to provide footy finals fans with extra seats
Qantas said on Friday that it would provide additional seats for travel to the AFL and NRL grand finals.
Qantas Group General Manager Sales and Distribution, Mr Rob Gurney, said that once the weekend’s finals results were known, the airline would move quickly to add flights from each of the winning team’s home cities.
“There is clearly a great deal of interest in the outcome of this weekend’s AFL and NRL finals matches,” Mr Gurney said.
“Every year Qantas develops contingency plans to provide as much additional capacity as possible for all matches in the finals series of each code.
“We have already provided dozens of extra flights and thousands of additional seats since the finals series began.
“To ensure fans have the best opportunity to get to Melbourne or Sydney, we will make all supplementary flights and additional seats on upgraded services available for sale from
11.00am (EST) Sunday 24 September, once the results of this weekend’s finals matches are known.
“A range of fares will be available on all additional flights. We are expecting heavy demand for these seats and they will sell quickly, so fans should make their bookings early to avoid disappointment.”
For bookings, AFL and NRL fans should go to www.qantas.com, call Qantas on 13 13 13 or contact their licensed travel agent.
