Qatar Airways accelerates Starlink installation
Qatar Airways has achieved a new milestone with Starlink installation on its 30th aircraft.
This marks over 50% of its Boeing 777 fleet.
It comes four months after the airline launched the first ever Boeing 777 Starlink-enabled flight and two months after surpassing its initial 2024 target of 12 installations.
The airline has significantly accelerated its Starlink rollout, cutting installation time per aircraft from three or two days to just 9.5 hours.
This is reducing the retrofit by nearly three-quarters of the initial timeline.
Qatar Airways had initially planned to complete the installations in two years; however, it will complete the full Boeing 777 fleet rollout ahead of schedule in the second quarter of 2025.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said: “We have already installed it on 30 aircraft—far exceeding our initial target”
“Starlink Wi-Fi is a game-changer for our passengers who will soon enjoy uninterrupted connectivity on even more routes.”
