Qatar Airways winging its way to Pattaya
Gulf carrier Qatar Airways is adding another Thai destination to its route network.
The airline will launch flights four times a week to the beach resort city of Pattaya from January 28.
It becomes the fifth Thai city for Qatar Air, after Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai which launches next month.
"We are delighted to announce the launch of our newest route to Pattaya in Thailand, our fifth route to one of Southeast Asia’s most popular destinations. Qatar Airways is committed to responding to customer demand by flying our passengers where they want to go," said chief executive, Akbar Al Baker.
The route will be operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets, featuring 22 seats in business class and 232 seats in economy class.
It will become the first Middle Eastern carrier serving U-Tapao Rayong Pattaya International Airport.
When Chiang Mai flights begin in December, Qatar Air will serve Thailand with an average 60 flights a week.
