Qatar to halt Burma services
DOHA – Reports from the Middle East indicate Qatar Airways has announced it is to shut down its four times a week service to Yangon, Myanmar, from January 9 for ‘commercial’ reasons.
Travel agents in the military-ruled country told Reuters the flights are usually very full and feel the decision is due to political pressure from western nations after Myanmar clamped down on pro-democracy protests.
Qatar Airways launched its Doha-Yangon route in December 2004.
