Queensland seeks AUD1 billion boost with tourism campaign
Queensland isn’t waiting for state borders to open to kickstart the tourism industry.
It hopes to generate about A$1 billion in overnight accommodation revenues over the next four months with a new campaign.
It has taken a leaf out of TravelMole’s book with the ‘Queensland – You’re Good to Go’ campaign.

It is being fronted by Queensland musicians Busby Marou to get Queenslanders out of the house and exploring the state.
"We live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Now’s the time to get out and about and experience it," said Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk
"One in 10 Queenslanders rely on our tourism industry for a living. This campaign will help us to safeguard more than 230,000 jobs."
Tourism and Events Queensland is targeting over nine million nights’ revenue ‘enjoying what the state has to offer, which would produce a $1 billion in overnight expenditure for tourism operators,’ she added.
"In coming weeks, you’ll see our Queensland – You’re Good to Go campaign on television, in newspapers and across social media platforms showcasing the best of our state from Cape York to Coolangatta."
It will run from June until August ‘with flow on effects into the September school holidays.’
The Premier says about 3.2 million Queenslanders generate $10 billion holidaying in other states and overseas, and Queensland wants to capture and keep some of that revenue locally.
"We’re urging Queenslanders to spend that money at home this year and support local businesses that are doing it tough," said tourism minister Kate Jones.
