Rave and rant all you want on SkiTV

Monday, 26 Oct, 2007 0

On its 1st birthday, the UK’s first ever snowsports internet TV channel, SkiTV, gives visitors to the Metro Ski and Snowboard Show the chance to have their five minutes of fame as skiers and boarders are invited onto the SkiTV sofa to have their ‘ski rant’. The clips will form part of a ski show special which will appear on the channel next week.

SkiTV, which is an initiative of the Ski Club of Great Britain, will have a leopard skin ‘ski rant’ sofa on their stand at the Metro Show (Stand 320A), and visitors can turn up to have their say on anything snow related and get their skiing and boarding gripes off their chests. Everyone who gets filmed for SkiTV will also be entered into a draw to win a pair of Faction skis.

In its first year, SkiTV showed over 350 programmes which could be watched by viewers 24 hours a day. Programmes that can be watched on SkiTV include the finest extreme skiing and boarding action from around the world, coverage of leading snowsports events such as the Verbier Ride and Xbox Big Day Out, instructional films, safety guides, resort guides and environmental features.

2007/8 sees SkiTV become even better with new interactive features including the chance to rate videos and watch the most viewed and highly rated programmes, new visual ski resort guides and all the programmes are all being streamed even faster.

The ‘Snowcast’ which has proved to be one of the most popular programmes on SkiTV can now be downloaded from the www.skiclub.co.uk and from iTunes. The ‘Snowcast’ which gives a twice weekly summary of snowsports news and snow conditions. It was downloaded 12,000 times in July and confirms the skiing public’s fascination with snow.

Alongside the Snowcast, the Ski Club offer snow reports updated daily from 246 resorts throughout the season and 2007/8 sees the Ski Club launch of video snow reports from the slopes of the Rep resorts.
