Americans will travel in record numbers for the July 4th holiday this year.

The AAA released its Independence Day Travel Forecast report, citing about 72.2 million people set to travel.

They will travel least 50 miles from home this July 4th during the holiday period from Saturday, June 28 to Sunday, July 6.

The 2025 report shows a likely increase of 1.7 million travelers compared to last year and a near 10% increase on pre pandemic levels.

The majority – over 60 million Americans, will drive to the intended destination while about 5.84 million Americans will fly.

The remainder will go by other transportation, like trains or take a cruise vacation.

Stacey Barber, AAA Travel VP, said: “Summertime is one of the busiest travel seasons of the year. Following Memorial Day’s record forecast, AAA is seeing strong demand for road trips and air travel over Independence Day week.”
